Emily Rigby
I started working for the Fed in January 2021 helping at the Covid vaccination centres. Since then, I have obtained a full-time job as Medical Secretary for the Enhanced Access service at HQ and Volunteer Coordinator for the Health Hive. In my role as Medical Secretary my duties have included completing referrals from our Enhanced Access appointments whether they are routine, urgent, or 2-week rules, communicating with our PCNs every day so they know what appointments they have available to utilise, dealing with queries quickly and efficiently to ensure patient satisfaction and attending sites with my manager Barry to provide training and build relationships with the practice staff.
Within my role as Volunteer Coordinator my main duties have included liaising with the volunteers and managing the volunteer rotas for our vaccination centres, informing our volunteers of any job opportunities within the fed and monitoring and accepting volunteer applications. I have also liaised with local colleges to offer student work placements.
While working for Bolton GP Federation I have been inundated with fantastic opportunities to improve my knowledge, skills, and confidence including the course I have completed. This was an apprenticeship course in ‘Management and Leadership Level 3’ which was so kindly offered to me by the fed. While completing this course I was able to improve my knowledge substantially and complete tasks/projects I may not have had the opportunity to without the course.
My highlights for last year were moving back into head office with the other teams at the federation and getting a distinction grade in my apprenticeship.
Next year I look forward to seeing the fed and workforce grow even more and meeting more practice staff.
